"If you don't have my army supplied, and keep it supplied, we'll eat your mules up, sir."

Regimental Headquarters

Welcome to Quartermaster for the 25th Iowa!

I’m the Quartermaster Sergeant. On this page, we’ll tell you what the unit does for equipment and what a general soldier would have had so that you can equip yourself.

We have a limited supply of crew gear and uniforms for members to borrow during events. Company F youth members get first shot and the uniforms and equipment available to be borrowed. However, to provide for those that can’t get their own gear, if you can, we would like you to get your own gear after, attending a few events, by using the following list. A good first purchase would be a canteen and haversack.

  • 4 button Union dark blue wool sack coat or frock  coat
  • Light blue wool Union trousers w/ suspenders
  • Brogans (boots) w/ heel plates
  • Kepi or forage cap in dark blue wool
  • Issue or homespun Civil War shirt
  • Black leather belt w/ US buckle
  • Gray wool socks
  • Haversack
  • Canteen covered in light or dark blue- we suggest the stainless steel type
  • Black leather cartridge box w/ US box plate and shoulder strap w/eagle breast plate
  • Black cap box

  • 1853 Model Enfield (or 1862 Springfield) Rifled Musket (reproduction)

  • Bayonet w/ scabbard

  • Bayonet Frog (allows scabbard to hang on belt)
